Managing Your Business Through Turbulent Times

Over the last weeks almost every post I see on any form of media has focused on COVID-19. The coverage is unprecedented. The inbox is bombarded with emails from local businesses, city councils, insurers, banks and various enterprises and industry organisations all talking about social and economic uncertainty and isolation.

In times of crisis, it’s easy to lose perspective and let ourselves be affected by the escalating anxiety.

The BIG question is what can be done?

I am not going to sugar coast this. Some business and families are really suffering. I rang a business owner today just to check in and see how they were. Fortunately for them they have been evaluating their situation, have a great team and most will be able to work from home. It’s not going to be as easy for everyone.

In every crisis is an opportunity. Business owners are going to be looking for something to break the isolation. One of the issues many business owners have is they don’t get time to work on their business to Plan – Strategise – Learn

Right now, you won’t be able to grow your business, but what can you do to prevent it going backwards or at least work through how you can you manage your business through turbulent times and come back bigger and better?

The line “little hinges swing big doors” is taken from a famous book called “The Success System That Never Fails” by W Clements Stone in 1962. Do your business and yourself a big favour and keep a sharp eye out for little hinges that swing BIG doors in your business. Those ½ dozen things that make 80% of the difference.

Business Accelerator is the name of my business adviser workshops offered under license to Quantum Leap Business Adviser Pty Limited. This 90-day (12 session) Quantum Leap programme provides the platform for your business and life to significantly leap forward to where you want it to be with the first 3 sessions focusing on Planning, Positioning and Team. When a crisis hits, things that people often take for granted disappear. It’s dangerously easy to get stuck in reminiscing about your losses and continue using the old tactics.
